A lifelong animal enthusiast, Evelyn Cowles lives with her husband, Reynolds, on their farm in Free Union, VA. They raise show and race horses and have an avid interest in fox hunting and hunting dogs. They spend time in Montana each year as well, where they enjoy fly fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities. Evelyn also shows in the Amateur Owner hunter division and is well acquainted with the horse show world.
An avid photographer since high school, she has expanded her artistic talents to include painting in oils. Though specializing in sporting art, she has been commissioned to do all types of animal portraits. She is known for capturing the character and personality of her subjects and her attention to detail compliments her accurate anatomy. Her paintings have been featured on the cover of "The Chronicle of the Horse", in Polo Magazine’s 2006 Sporting Art Edition and she was a finalist in the animal category of the 2006 Artist’s Magazine. Her works are in the collections of numerous sporting art enthusiasts throughout the country.
